Valve has released an official app for DOTA 2 that features match wagering and Fantasy Sports features.

The new Dota Pro Circuit app for iOS and Android allows the game’s esports fans to get up to date news, updates and media from the pro circuit as well as place wagers on matches and even play a bit of Fantasy Sports.

There’s a couple of specifics though. Firstly, you need to be a subscriber to the DOTA Plus membership. DOTA Plus is a pretty exhaustive resource for players that for $4 a month gives you access to in game items, training software, stat trackers and exclusive event access. The second caveat is that the wagers you place are with in-game currency called “Shards”. Shards can be redeemed for digital rewards only, so you won’t be paying your rent with your DOTA Pro League knowledge.

That said, both the sports betting and fantasy sports concepts are great additions to the app allowing players to dig not only into the game’s meta but the meta of the pro scene as well.

Here’s more on how it works via Valve:

Test your powers of prediction by correctly choosing the winner of any DPC match no matter where you are. Back up your call by wagering your personal Shards.

Choose wisely—a win will pay out along the odds, but a loss is sure to deplete your hard-earned stash.

Reap the Rewards

Don’t just watch the DPC, field your own team of champions in the Fantasy Challenge. Build your roster and compete against your friends and the entire world to score the most points.

You’ll stack up a nice pile of Shards if your roster outperforms the rest of the competition.
