Netflix pivots from superheroes to Video Game shows? Next up could be Resident Evil.

Netflix has famously started culling it’s Marvel Comics shows in response to Disney’s upcoming streaming service “Disney+” as it will be the upcoming home to all Marvel and Disney content. While Netflix owns the rights to the shows it created (Iron Fist, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Daredevil) maybe they don’t want to strengthen the IP of what will inevitably be their biggest competitor?

Perhaps the next big play for Netflix original show content are video games? They’ve already experienced success with their anime featuring Konami’s Castlevania series. According to Deadline next up may be a live action version of Resident Evil.

Reports are that the show will be developed by Constantine Films, the same group that made the Awful/Awesome movies depending on your taste. Agnostic to your taste is the $1.2 Billion dollars the film series has earned worldwide.

The show is rumored to build on the mythology of the films and expand the property beyond what’s been seen on screen so far.

Hopefully we’ll see more on this soon!
