The Hershey’s Company has enlisted Ninja (Tyler Blevins) and DrLupo (Ben Lupo) one of the most famous and iconic Esports duos of all time to help them promote a new candy creation that mixes another famous duo, the Hershey’s Chocolate Bar and Reese’s Cups.
“The mashup of these icons, who are friends in real life, plays on the idea that Hershey’s new candy is a mashup of two classics.” – Charlie Chappell, Hershey’s head of integrated media and comms planning.
“It’s exciting to see a brand like Hershey’s is getting into the gaming world. Snacking is an essential part of gaming, so partnering with Hershey’s at TwitchCon for the release of their new bar was a no-brainer.” – Ninja
At TwitchCon this October 27th Ninja and DrLupo will be doing a live stream to introduce the new candy as well as an hour long meet and greet with fans afterward.
This Esports experiment by Hershey’s should prove to be a success but it doesn’t guarantee continued efforts in the space. When asked if a dedicated esports branch of the company would be opened Hershey’s reps were reserved saying that they had a large interest in the space but no hard plans yet.
Let’s hope they jump in so we can see more snack non-endemics in the fold.
