Splatoon 2 has been a huge hit for Nintendo selling almost 6 million copies since it’s release in 2017. It’s been such a large success that support for the game was planned to end with 2017 but was extended until December 2018. The game also spawned a World Championship Series and multiple invitationals.
According to Nintendo Europe’s Twitter, the final map for the game will release in October called Skipper Pavilion.
This is Skipper Pavilion. It'll be the last new stage to be added to #Splatoon2 when it arrives in October.

While this may be the last map to be added, it’s doubtful the game will leave the spotlight anytime soon. There’s a competitive community around the game that will doubtlessly be rewarded with more esports events in the future.
It just won’t be held on any more new maps.
