Twitch Prime will no longer be Ad Free but is there a greater good to it?

“As we have continued to add value to Twitch Prime, we have also re-evaluated some of the existing Twitch Prime benefits. As a result, universal ad-free viewing will no longer be part of Twitch Prime for new members, starting on September 14”

This is the sweet way Twitch is telling you that it’s time to make some more money. Indeed, Twitch Prime will no longer be ad free. Those greedy bast… But wait. Twitch insists it’s not for them but for the creators/streamers themselves:

“Advertising is an important source of support for the creators who make Twitch possible. This change will strengthen and expand that advertising opportunity for creators so they can get more support from their viewers for doing what they love.”

In this case then why not? We want streamers to make as much money as possible so the breadth of players who can make streaming a career widens. Watching an ad won’t kill us as viewers and it may just give life to the channels we love.

But what if you just can’t for any reason be bothered by ads? Twitch Turbo is the answer for you. The convenience will cost you an additional $9 a month though.
