“BREAKING NEWS”: MOLINARI FIRST ITALIAN TO EVER WIN U.S. OPEN GOLF TITLE! (*SUNDAY JULY 22, 2018)

What turned into a back and forth race between more then half dozen players turned into a first in the U.S. Open Golf Tournament. Francesco Molinari won the Title by 2 strokes over 4 different players, shooting a 69 on the final round to squeak past a bunch of big name players. Tiger Woods, who made a big charge to the top of the leaderboards early in the day, finished shooting a 71 and losing by 3 shots. Molinari is the first to win the U.S. Open, and really the first to ever win a Major.

Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose joined Kevin Kisner and Xander Schauffele finished tied for second. The leader going into the final round, Justin Spieth, finished with a terrible day and round of 76, finishing in a tie for 9th place.

It’s clear Tiger Woods is now fully back and able to contend for Titles again, and the golf world just keeps finding new stars to add the weekly talk of “who might win” the next tourney.
