Weeks of speculation ended today with the San Antonio Spurs Superstar Kawhi Leonard being part of a blockbuster deal and traded for another league Superstar, DeMar Derozan, as the two main chip pieces to this shocking trade. The Spurs get rid of a huge headache and the Toronto Raptors roll the dice they can convince Leonard to stay after his final year of this current contract ends.
The Spurs will also trade longtime veteran Danny Green to the Raptors and Toronto will also send along young star Jakob Poeltl and a protected 2019 first-round draft pick.
This makes the window to grab a Title for the Raptors to possibly this, and only this season.
The Spurs get two solid players in return for the former league MVP Leonard and Derozan has 3 years left on his current deal giving the Spurs 3 years of service for a league All Star player.
The Spurs finally rid themselves of the Leonard drama and headache as he wanted out early last season and the team suffered greatly by him missing most of the season, even though team Doctors vowed him “fit to play” with over half the season still left.
