THREE FIRST ROUND MLB DRAFT 2018 PICKS GO UNSIGNED BY THE DEADLINE!
Well 3 teams in MLB just took a vicious hard right knockout punch, losing their first round draft picks from draft a few weeks ago, as they couldn’t get a deal done before the deadline at 5pm, Friday night.
These are gigantic losses for teams looking to load up their Farm Systems, but what’s most amazing is their was actually one bigtime winner, Mississippi State Bulldog Baseball Program. The Bulldogs will now put a uniform on two of these very talented young baseball studs this next College Baseball Season.
The 3 who didn’t sign were: RH Pitcher Carter Stewart, by the Atlanta Braves with the 8th overall pick in Round 1, SS Matt McLain, by the Arizona D’Backs with the 25th pick in Round 1 and RH Pitcher J.T. Ginn, by the LA Dodgers with the 30th pick in Round 1.
Stewart and Ginn will both suit up for the Bulldogs next season, bypassing very big Paydays. Ginn passed up $2.275 million signing bonus to live out his “Childhood Dream” to play for Mississippi State. Stewart has a wrist injury that kept the Braves from offering slot value.
What’s so strange about this is it’s very rare to see happen. In the past 6 MLB Drafts, only 4 players went unsigned.
Tonight we have 3 heartbroken front offices but one very happy College Baseball Coach. Well two actually as the third unsigned player, Matt McLain, will suit up for UCLA Bruins Baseball Program next Spring.
