The Halo series may be in a position for some new life as Microsoft teased a new game called ‘Halo Infinite’ at E3 last month and now Showtime has announced a television series based on Halo that their CEO David Nenins claims is the company’s most ambitions show ever. Strong words.
The already seem to be backing that up by bringing in Rupert Wyatt (director of Rise of the Planet of the Apes) to executive produce the show as well as direct several episodes while Kyle Killen serves as showrunner. Want even more muscle? Steven Spielberg’s own Amblin Television will produce the show.
Halo as a TV show isn’t a new idea. In fact, it’s been in a sort of development purgatory as rights changed hands over the years and no movement was made. Showtime isn’t going to fall into the same trap as they will be starting production early 2019.
We can’t wait to hear more details as this develops. Rise again Halo!
