NBA PLAYOFFS PREVIEW – GAME 6 – CELTICS @ CAVS (FRI MAY 25TH, 2018)!

COULD THIS BE LEBRON JAMES LAST GAME WEARING A CAVS UNIFORM AT HOME?

Well now we’ve finally hit the time where the Cavs can’t lose either of it’s next two games or there will be no 8th straight Finals appearance for Lebron. He has one solid streak heavily in his favor, and one heavily against him. By Sunday night, his fate will be determined.

This will be Lebrons 10th elimination game since 2009, so he’s well versed for what is on deck later tonight. Last time it happened at home and he was a Favorite in that given game, he won 115-101. He has averaged (33.5) points per game in all his Elimination games. When any of his teams has started a Series down (0-2) he has only won 2 of his 6 tries to dig out of that tough early hole.

The Cavs have won their last 6 straight home Playoff games this year, so they definitely have that in their favor tonight. This Series has been all Home teams winning, and really all in relatively blowout fashion. The Celtics have lost all but one of their Road Playoff games so far, with all the losses coming by double digits.

The Celts won Game 5 by a wide margin, even though they shot a terrible (36%). How did they do it with PG Terry Rozier shooting (3-15) and just (1-7) on 3-balls? They played tenacious Defense and forced the Cavs into 15 turnovers.

The Cavs have been basically a one man gang except for a few rare night shooting games by Kyle Korver and JR Smith. There has been only one extra help for Lebron and that’s been Kevin Love, but even he has only averaged (12) points per game the past 3. In Game 5 the Cavs, and especially Lebron, looked old and tired from a long season, one in which James never missed a game. Tonight will mark Lebrons 100th game played this year.

It’s been uncanny how good the Celtics have looked at Home at TD Garden, but on the Road they seem to unravel early and are forced to overcome huge deficits. Rozier, who has been a spark plug before this Series helping the Celtics get this far has been ice cold in this Series, shooting just (5-31) overall. Yet the Celtics still lead this Series (3-2).

LAS VEGAS BETTING ODDS: CAVS (-7) *  TOTAL: (202) vs. CELTICS (GAME 5)

UPDATED SERIES BETTING ODDS:  CELTICS (-$200) *  CAVS (+$170) TO WIN SERIES

GARY’S FINAL SHOTS:
Thanks to all Blowouts in this Series, 4 of the 5 games have gone UNDER the posted Total. Game 6 Total is the lowest posted of all 6 games so far. The Home team has won and covered the point spread in all 5 games thus far.

The Cavs though at Home this year and this Playoffs have not been kind to it’s betting backers. They are a horrific (12-27-2) Against the Point spread at Home this year and only (3-5) ATS at Home in these 2018 Playoffs.

The two combined for their lowest total scoring output (179 points combined) in Game 5 and the long ball shooting for both is nothing to write home about.

It really comes down to Lebron’s cast beyond Kevin Love. If they don’t chip in with some double digit performances, it doesn’t matter if the King scores 40 points. Boston’s HC Stevens is the best HC in the NBA and Cavs HC Lue one of the worst. That’s huge when you play an opponent over and over and must make immediate changes on the fly each new game.

The problem of betting the Cavs is laying 7 points when they looked dead tired less then 48 hours is more betting “just to be in action”. You are getting no value other then all these games haven’t been close. To back the Celtics though away from TD Garden has been a wallet crusher, with just one winner of them all on the highway.

I fully expect that Lebron has a huge game, with more taking ball one on one into the paint and less fade back jumpers. I do expect the crowd to energize the team knowing this could be James last game ever wearing a Cavs uniform at Home. It’s a very tough call and I will be on the sidelines, and hoping for a Celtics win to cash our already reported here before the Series started, a Series win for Boston (+235).

Have a great day and Holiday weekend ahead and may all your wagers be winning ones.
