MLB “SHOWCASE GAME OF THE NIGHT” – (TUES. MAY 22, 2018) * TRIBE @ CUBS!

REMATCH OF WORLD SERIES 2016 TONIGHT AT WRIGLEY FIELD!

Two years ago we had one of the most exciting and dramatic World Series endings of all time, going extra Innings, before the Cubs won for first time ever. Heading into this season the two teams expected to win their respective divisions are the Cubs and the Indians. Right now, neither looks like a World Series type team, especially the Tribe who are under (.500) with a (22-23) record. Amazingly in the A.L. Central thats good enough to be in first place by 1 game. Wow. The Cubs sport a much better (25-19) record, but in the N.L. Central, that’s only good enough for third place, 2 games behind the Brewers.

Tonight both teams have pretty solid Starting Pitchers going, and neither giving up the Home Run ball as of yet this season.

First for the visiting Indians, Trevor Bauer takes the hill and he’s off his best start all season, going (8) innings, allowing (4) hits and no earned runs, striking out (10) and allowing zero walks. He threw 108 pitches and 70 were for strikes. His ERA is (2.59) and he’s thrown over 100 pitches so far in all (9) starts. He’s fared very well on the Road this season, allowing 0, 2, 3, 2 runs and his start prior to this last great one vs. Detroit, he allowed only (2) hits to the loaded Yankees lineup in (6) innings of work. He’s allowed only (3) homers all season.

For the hometown Cubs, it’s Tyler Chatwood taking the hill, and his ERA (3.14) has been good. He’s been very lucky though as the Bullpen has saved him often so far. He’s allowed only (1) home run so far, but he’s been very erratic around the strike zone, walking guys at a very high clip. In fact he has one of worst K/W ratios in MLB with (40) K’s but (34) Walks, which get his pitch counts very high early and not letting him go too deep in most of his starts. He’s made (9) starts but (5) have gone only (5.1) innings or less. His longest start of year is (7) innings. He did beat the Tribe on (4/24) though, with a solid (6.0) innings, allowing only (4) hits and (1) earned run. He did walk (5) guys in that one though, as he may have been more lucky then good thus far. Jury still out on Chatwood as a starter.

LAS VEGAS ODDS:  Chicago Cubs  (-105) *  TOTAL RUNS (7 1/2) vs. Cleveland Indians

GAME TIME: 7PM/EST/ESPN     *   WIND: BLOWING IN TONIGHT FROM CENTERFIELD

GARY’S FINAL PITCHES:

Both teams come in off a day off so both Bullpens in very good shape. The Indians Pen only threw (10) pitches Sunday as well, so they are locked and loaded to go tonight. The Cubs are on a mini 2 game win streak, the Tribe just (5-5) it’s last (10) games.

I’d expect with wind blowing in these two Pitchers both throw a good game, with Bauer likely to go deeper then Chatwood. Both Managers can mix and match up their Relievers to have advantages most of the night too. The Indians just can’t seem to get a win streak going as they seem to play great one night and terrible the next night. This should be an interesting 2 game set at one of my favorite ball parks, Wrigley Field.

Have a great day and may all your wagers be winning ones.
