NHL PREVIEW: JETS @ KNIGHTS (Game 4) * (MAY 18, 2018)

A few years ago a guy decided it was a good investment to spend $500 million on a new Franchise in the NHL, and he’d bring that team to the Desert of Las Vegas. He would eventually name the team the Golden Knights.

In Hollywood and not Vegas, one could make a fun movie script of how an expansion team won right out the gate and never stopped until they made it to the Finals of the League. It would be a cute story, but this story is REAL. It’s the most amazing and improbable sports story in decades. Tonight the Vegas Golden Knights Hockey Team will look to grab it’s 3rd win over the Winnipeg Jets, and be only one win away from a spot to compete for the coveted Stanley Cup Trophy.

Teams that lead a NHL Series (2-1) have won their Series at an (87.5%) clip.. Go up (3-1) and it moves up to a (90%) clip. This is one gigantic great opportunity for the Knights tonight in Game 4 to take a commanding (3-1) lead.

The Jets came out like a house on fire in this Series, scoring 3 goals in the first 10 minutes of play. Since then though, just 4 goals scored in 170 minutes of play. Other then Mark Scheifele, who has 14 of the teams 50 Playoff goals so far, and both of the team goals in Game 3, the rest of the supporting cast has been M.I.A. and now seen on milk cartons across Canada. Patrick Laine, who had 44 goals in the regular season, has 4 goals the entire Playoffs, and only 6 total points. Captain Wheeler of the Jets has 0 goals his last 7 Playoff games. This team can’t advance as a one man gang.

Vegas at Home at the T-Mobile Center started out with suffocating Defense, allowing just 1 goal in their first 3 ever Playoff Home games. Since then though they have allowed 8 goals combined in it’s last 3 home games. Vegas has more fans outside the Arena then many other Pro Sports teams have attending their actual games inside.

The Jets have actually outshot the Knights in each of the 3 games so far, with a (92-79) overall shot advantage. They simply can’t beat the hottest Goalie on the Planet right now, Marc Andre Fleury. Vegas is (0-5) Last 5 tries on the Power Play, just (1-7) so far in this Series. The Jets are (6-9) and scored on both chances in Game 3. At this point, the only thing the Knights are doing bad is committing penalties and giving the Jets a chance to stay in these games.

The Jets may get back Nikolaj Ehlers tonight, who missed Game 3 with an illness. He’s not been playing well either, but extra bodies are always needed vs. Vegas, who uses a 4 man Line and can tire out it’s opponent.

The town of Vegas is painted black and gold everywhere you go, and tonight they will play their biggest game ever. So far, the pressure has never gotten to this bunch, named by Fleury as the “Golden Misfits”. I fully expect the Jets to give it’s best effort tonight, and fully expect this game to be tight throughout. Vegas must play better on Offense on the Power Play, as it’s really their only black mark so far in this Series. They also must play better on the Power Play when it’s the Jets skating to a (5-4) advantage, as so far just brutal there as well. Play this game at (5-5) all game and the Knights win. Vegas needs to stay out of the Penalty Box and make the Jets get it’s supporting cast involved as they have been as bad as possible so far in this Series. This one has the look of Overtime written all over it.

Enjoy the game tonight and may all your wagers be WINNING ones!

God Bless,
