Chicago hosting a Beer Game Softball League Match tonight at MLB Stadium!
It’s been a little while since I did a Baseball Preview with the NBA and NHL Playoffs in full effect, but with only one NHL on tap tonight, I had to write about two of possibly the 5 worst Starting Pitchers in MLB, that are facing off against each other tonight.
LAS VEGAS BETTING ODDS: *CHI WHITE SOX (-$108) * TOTAL RUNS: (9 1/2) vs. TEXAS RANGERS
STARTERS: MATT MOORE (TEXAS) vs. CARSON FULMER (CWSOX)
These two guys starting tonight are pitching at one of the most putrid levels I’ve witnessed in many years. And there is a great chance a softball beer keg game breaks out as neither guy can get out of his own way right now.
First lets look at Moore, as he was traded to Texas to help propel them to the Playoffs. He’s done the opposite, as he’s led them to last place. He not only gets crushed, but he doesn’t help out to even toss 6 or 7 innings in these games he’s buried the teams chance to win early on. He’s gone 6 innings once in 8 starts so far. His last start he lasted 3 innings, allowing 3 earned runs, and a homer, and prior to that start, he lasted (5.2) innings allowing 5 earned runs on 9 hits. Three starts ago he allowed 11 hits and 10 earned runs in just 4 innings, including 3 homers. He only has 11 K’s and has given up 7 free passes in those meek (12.2) innings these past 3 starts combined. His ERA is (7.52) for the season and he has none of his pitches working, and he’s very soon going to be forced to be pulled from the starting rotation.
For the White Sox, what they hoped would be a huge season for young Carson Fulmer, has turned into a disaster. His ERA is (6.23) and has had only 1 deep start, out of his last 6 starts, with three lasting under 2 full innings of work. He had one great start in early May, going 7 innings and allowing only 4 hits and no earned runs. But the other starts, wow, just brutal bad. He’s allowed 9 earned runs his last two starts combined, going only 5 innings total, and allowing 4 homers. He’s only lasted 12 innings in 5 starts combined excluding the one fine start of 7 innings.
Due to the winds blowing in very hard tonight, I won’t play the Over the 9 1/2 runs in this one, but I’d still be stunned if either pitches a good game tonight. We also finally lost our last Free Pick after a 11 straight free picks win streak, so I’ll make sure I provide a fully sound selection for our next free pick.
I don’t expect Moore to turn his season around, I do feel Fulmer is still young and can fix his mechanics enough to be at least decent ahead.
Have a great weekend ahead and enjoy the games.
