Creator of Jazz Jackrabbit, Gears of War and Lawbreakers Cliff Bleszinski has decided to step away from the gaming industry for a while after two consecutive failed games… Well, one and a half really.
Cliff’s new studio after leaving Epic Games, Boss Key Productions created a hero shooter called Lawbreakers looking to get a piece of the pie created by Blizzard’s Overwatch. The industry didn’t explode with hero shooters after Overwatch as expected though. In fact, it and Paladins are two of the only hero shooters to launch and survive. After development and marketing costs weren’t made back by Lawbreakers, Cliff via Boss Key decided to jump into another emerging game type: Battle Royale. Unfortunately their early access entry Radical Heights just didn’t catch popularity soon enough with it’s cool 80’s take on the genera and the decision has been made to shutter everything.
Statement via Twitter:
We hope to see Cliff back in some form very soon!
