Number 1 MLB Rivalry now pits two best teams in A.L. for huge 3 Game Series in Bronx!

In every Sport, there are longtime rivalries. None though like the one in MLB between the Red Sox and the Yankees. These two meet up 18 times a season, which is over 10% of each teams schedule. This Series is coming at the perfect time and easily is the biggest 3 game set of this week on the MLB schedule.

The Red Sox in April went on a mammoth winning run of (17-2) in a 19 game span. The Yankees said we can one up that run, now in midst of a (15-1) winning run and after falling 7 games behind the Red Sox in April, will start this Series only 1 game behind the first place Sox.

These two teams met earlier in April, for a 3 game set at Fenway Park, and the emotions piled over into a huge bench clearing brawl. Wow, it didn’t take long this season for the juices for both clubs to start overflowing.

What’s most interesting about the Yankees hot streak is that it basically all started after they called up their #1 Prospect, Gleyber Torres. Since that call up, the team is (14-1). This kid has Not played like a Rookie, as he is just crushing the ball and looking like a 10 year veteran at the plate. He helped the Yankees walk off Sunday (the teams last game played) with a bomb Home Run to enter this hated rivalry on a sky high note.

During the Yankees streak, they have outscore opponents (98-37), also scoring (49) runs from the 7th inning on. Every night it’s a new hitting star for the Bronx Bombers. The Red Sox lineup almost same, as many different hitters have paced way during their solid season start.

LAS VEGAS ODDS – BOSTON RED SOX (POMERANZ) (L) @ NY YANKS (SEVERINO) (R) Odds:  NYY (-200)   *  (TOTAL: 8 1/2 RUNS)  (MLBN TV)  *  (7PM/EST)  *  (5/8/18)

The Yankees will send out their #1 Starter in Righty Luis Severino, (5-1), (2.11) ERA. He is coming off a complete game shutout at Houston, allowing (5) hits, on 110 pitches. His only loss of 2018 came against the Red Sox at Fenway Park, allowing (8) hits, (5) runs and on short end of the Red Sox (14-1) win. Since that start, Severino has a sensational (1.24) ERA his last (4) starts.

The Red Sox will send out Lefty Drew Pomeranz, who will be making his (4th) start of the ’18 season. He has yet to go very deep, going only (6, 5, 3.2) innings with a (6.14) ERA. He is (2-2) with a (3.47) ERA in his career vs. the Blue Pinstripers. He hasn’t fared well vs. 3 Yanks starters, as Gardner (9-26), Gregorious (8-21) and Sanchez (7-18), (3) HR’s and (6) RBI’s. Sanchez is now part of the NYY Righty “Murderer’s Row” (with Judge and Stanton). Pomeranz has actually faced 3 of the weakest lineups in the league, so this will be by far his biggest test of season.

The Red Sox have a few hitters who have feasted on Severino, as Betts is (6-19), Benitendi (8-16) with (9) RBI’s and H. Ramirez (6-21). Betts is hitting a league best (.355) with (26) RBI’s this season and the Sox have 3 starters hitting in the top 30 in all of MLB.

This is “must see” Baseball as the rivalry alone is worth the watch, and now we have two of the best overall teams we’ve seen in MLB in years. Both lineups are loaded, and both teams have minimal weaknesses. The Yankees do strike out a ton, but they have struggled a few games already and it was just the one big hit, usually a big bomb HR, that helped them still walk away with a “W”. Hard to lay (-200) vs. Red Sox lineup that is so potent, but hard to back Pomeranz here as he’s just not where he needs to be and still may need 2-3 more starts to get back into good groove. Hot weather in the Bronx will likely send a few balls into orbit in this Series. Key question is does Boston have the red hot Serverinos number a second time in a month? Both Bullpens are well rested and really all members fresh for this one tonight. Grab your beer and popcorn and enjoy this battle for first place tonight.
