SO MUCH FOR HOME ICE ADVANTAGE AS CAPITOLS, PREDS AND LIGHTNING ALL LOSE GAME 1 AT HOME – AND RED HOT VEGAS KNIGHTS LOSE IN O.T. AT HOME TOO!
Well the advantage of playing at Home is not really the same in the NHL Playoffs as it may be in other sports, and that was proven as 4 straight Home teams lost in these NHL Playoffs, and opened the door for the Road teams to all now have a ton more faith ahead.
The Capitols, who lost Games 1 and 2 vs. Columbus, then won 4 straight, lost another game they had a 2 goal advantage. The Penguins are the two time defending Stanley Cup Champs and you can’t just win 2 Periods, you have to really knock them out. Now the Caps are faced with an almost “MUST WIN” situation in Game 2, as they can ill afford to head to Pittsburgh for Games 3 and 4 down two games to none.
The same is true for both Nashville and Tampa Bay, who can ill afford that same (0-2) start and be forced to win 2 on Road to regain even in their Series.
In years past a team could run a red hot Goalie all the way to the Cup Finals. But so far the Goalies have not had the better of it in any of these Series, maybe except Fleury of the Vegas Knights, who gave up a few power play goals in the Game 2 loss.
GARY’S GREENE LIGHT SLAPSHOT PICKS FOR SUNDAY/MONDAY IN NHL:
I am taking all 3 Home teams in Game 2, to all even their Series up at (1-1) apiece. The Capitols are actually very cheaply priced, so value wise they are the best of the 3 picks these next few days on the Ice.
