Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan has called for snap elections in light of instability between Syria and Iraq. These forced-forward elections would require use of the Ülker Sports Arena where The Blast Pro Series $250,000 CS:GO event is set to be held on June 23rd and 24th.
Interestingly enough, some political reporters are saying that it’s not fear of instability but more so that waiting until November for the elections will give the economy time to deteriorate and hurt the President’s re-election chances.
By jeopardizing the Blast Pro Series the President could remove a positive economical opportunity for the country as a side effect. Ah, politics..
The series is currently reviewing their options to keep the event in place but it will require a venue or timeline change; Two very hard things to do with major Esports events.
With FaZe Clan, Cloud9 and others already set to show up to the event it was guaranteed to have the biggest names in the CS:GO pro scene in attendance. We wish them the best and will continue to follow this story.
